Our club and shelter officially
formed in 1989 as the "Miami Ferret Club." The
shelter existed prior to this when our shelter operator,
Angela Espinet, decided to form a club to help support
the shelter.
In 1992, we received our 501(c)3 not-for-profit
status and incorporated as the "South Florida
Ferret Club and Rescue, Inc." The name
change was made to better define the area which we
served.
Above is a panoramic view of one of
our two shelter rooms. This view was made
by pasting together two photos, one of each half of
the room. As you can see, the ferrets have
all the comforts of home in their color coordinated
cages and they all get lots of play time out of their
cages.

This is one view of our old
shelter room. Shortly after Hurricane
Andrew severly damaged the house in 1992, the
ferrets were moved into the master bedroom. The
ferrets have long since moved into their new
quarters seen at the top of the page. |

Here is another view of the "master
bedroom" where the ferrets were temporarily
housed. Note the old, wooden cages. The
shelter operator and her husband lived in a
mobile trailer in front of the house for over
a year after Hurricane Andrew destroyed their,
and the ferrets', home. |
