Grinding Teeth:

QUESTION:
I have a 3 month old male ferret and all of a sudden he has started grinding his teeth on his food bowl, he has never done this before. I was just wondering if you knew what I should do.

ANSWER:
He is probably cutting new teeth, his molars are growing in at that age. Do you have food vvailable all the time? You might want to purchase some CHEWEASELS for him to chew also. Hard baby toys are also a good item, just make sure he does NOT have anything rubber that he can chew pieces off. If you think he may have swallowed any rubber (erasers, soles of shoes, rubber bands, squeaky toys etc..) then you need to check and make sure he is defacating normally. Rubber items get stuck and can cause blockages, which require surgery to remove, so make sure he has SAFE toys to play with.
