Ferrets and Birds:

QUESTION:
I have a bird. Will my ferret get along with it?

ANSWER:
Ferrets are predators and naturally your bird would be prey under normal conditions!

Young ferrets are governed by predatory behavior and therefore exhibit these tendencies until they realize that there is no need to hunt, to kill, as food will always be provided by their human caretaker.

However the hunting part of their behavior remains and it could be that your bird may become the hunted, even though the ferret is not planning to kill the bird or eat it! It could be a fatal mistake for the two, to ever be in the same environment together!

In other words if you value the life of your bird, definitely do not buy a ferret!
