Feeding a Sick Ferret:

QUESTION:
I have a 5 yr old with adrenal and insulinoma. We've been doing the pred. she has maxed out on  the dosage and has just recently stopped eating and  taking her meds. She  sleeps all the time. She will not even eat a raisin. I took her to the vet and she suggested we try the proglycem. Do you know where  someone might get the med?  What is ferretzyme? I have been trying wrapping her in a blanket and syringe  feeding her. She cries the whole time, so we both sit there and cry. I'm not ready to give up. I have gotten a baby tube you use  on newborns and am going to give the syringe feed  another go. Do you have   any suggestions? Id be very grateful.

ANSWER:
Are you giving little Sadie baby food? The Ferretzyme breaks down the cooked food and adds the enzymes that are missing, it will help with digestion and also put good bacteria back into the digestive tract. Be careful with the syringe or tube that she doesn't aspirate and get pneumonia.

Proglycem is available everywhere although it can be expensive, however it may help Sadie.  I personally have not have a lot of success with it through the years.

How much pred are you giving and how much baby food are you feeding and how often. If she doesn't eat, no medicine will help. I am wondering if yourpred dose is high enough.
