QUESTION:
Hello, My name is amber and I am 14 years old. I have a ferret his name is flash
and has around 4 months. I started to find things about duck soup because
i wasn't quite sure of what you use it for. I know its for sick ferrets or
ones that just got out of surgery, or they wont eat, but I was wondering
if you could give your ferret a serving like once a week to keep the ferret
healthy. Could you do that or is it better to just use it when there sick
or something?
ANSWER:
That's a good question! I am not sure what the recipe
you are referring to contains, but usually 'duck'
soup as it is called, is used for sick or old ferrets
that have difficulty eating their regular food.
As a healthy snack you could give your ferret, each
day, a teaspoon or two of GERBER'S CHICKEN/TURKEY BABYFOOD,
warm it a little before you give it to him. He should
lick it right off your finger and eventually he will
eat from a shallow bowl.
The reason this is good is, if your ferret should get
sick this is what he will be eating and he will already
love it so much, that you will not have difficulty
feeding him when that time comes.
Do not give him more than I suggested, as he may want
to eat the whole jar and that would not be good for
him. He will not want his regular food and he will
gain too much weight on a diet that is not a 'complete'
food, such as one designed for ferrets.
If you need more help with diet, or anything else,
please let me know, thanks for asking.
