Clipping Nails:

QUESTION:
How far can I clip their nails? Their getting pretty sharp.

ANSWER:
Nail clipping is very important, the nails will get caught and sometimes can be completely ripped out. You will notice where the nail starts to curve that the 'bloodline' stops there, I usually cut about 1/16th of an inch away from the bloodline with a human nail clipper.

You could have someone scruff the ferret and then you will be able to clip without the ferret wiggling all over the place! Another method that many people use is, putting a drop or two of Ferretone, on the belly and while the ferret is licking you can clip.

I personally put a strip of nutrical on the counter and while the ferret is busily munching I clip, however if you are new to this, then I would have someone help you. If you have a ferret shelter close to you, they also may be able to show/help you and if you are not too comfortable about clipping, perhaps you could have your veterinarian show you.
